A visit to The Home Ranch is a visit to a unique part of Colorado, whether you come in the winter or summer.  The Steamboat Springs area and North Routt County have a rich history in mining, ranching and of course, skiing.  If you drive north of the ranch you will find the quaint mining town of Hahn’s Peak Village.  Besides boasting incredible views and many historical building, Hahn’s Peak is the home of Steamboat Lake State Park.

South of the ranch is the town of Steamboat Springs.  Steamboat is called “Ski-Town USA,” a well-deserved moniker.  No matter what season, Steamboat buzzes with activity: festivals, shopping, skiing, water sports and more.

The downtown area and the mountain village have many nice boutiques, specialty shops, bookstores, wine shops, art/antique galleries and ski/sportswear stores. If you are looking for a break from riding the hills or skiing the slopes, a day in Steamboat could be just the ticket.  Here are a few suggestions from The Home Ranch staff:

To help outfit you for the riding trails: Check out F.M. Light  or Cowgirls & Angels

To outfit you for the ski trails: Backdoor Sports, Ski Haus, or Steamboat Ski & Bike Care

To outfit your home, western style: Into the West or Home on the Range

For a quiet cup of coffee & great browsing: Off the Beaten Path Bookstore or Epilogue
