For me, it is hard to imagine that anyone would want to go fishing in the winter, but there are plenty of folks that do.  Other people find it interesting that it is even possible to fish with all this snow and cold, but with the correct gear and guide you can accomplish just that.  The Yampa River in Steamboat has open waters throughout the winter and the Elk has some spots that can be fished as well.  Chef Philippe finds that March is the best time to fish the Elk, he often goes for a snowshoe and fish before coming to work.
