Wide open spaces, Frette sheets, Relais & Chateaux dining, and more than two miles of Elk River make The Home Ranch an inviting oasis from the everyday world. Established in 1980, The Home Ranch has maintained the same ownership and focus of quality, while providing a relaxed ranch atmosphere.
Rainbows and browns, with the occasional whitefish, are to be found in the wild fishery on the Elk River. Fish the backcountry for brookies and that unique western experience. The ranch also has arrangements to fish other private waters.
Bring the family in the summer and experience one of the finest dude ranch vacations. Along with fising, hiking and riding are part of the program. During the summer months, there is a fully supervised children’s program and fun evening Western-style entertainment.
Fall is a time reserved for adults only. Enjoy the peace of Colorado and the colors of a magnificent valley that not only has aspen, but cottonwood and oak as well. It is probably the best time of year to fish the magnificent Elk.
In winter, challenge yourself to fish in the opens holes in the ice, ski, or sit by the fire. The Home Ranch has 25km of groomed cross-country ski trails and acres of backcountry skiing. Guides and equipment are provided. Transportation is available for downhill skiing at Steamboat.
Chef Clyde Nelson has been at The Home Ranch for more than 15 years. The cuisine is fabulous, as is required by the prestigious Relais & Chateaux organization that recognizes only two properties in Colorado. Guests in the winter can join the chefs in the kitchen to expand their culinary knowledge by helping to prepare the evening meal.
Accommodations are either in lovingly-appointed rooms in the lodge or cozy cabins with a hot tub on each deck. No motel-feel here, as each room is individually decorated with the owner’s delicate touch. Many antiques and Navajo blankets give the accommodations that ‘home’ feel.

The Home Ranch is located in Northwest Colorado, about 4 hours from Denver, near Steamboat Springs. The Yampa Valley Regional Airport (HDN) has daily service from Denver and Salt Lake in the summer and other airports in the winter.
