Howdy!
You can read more in “On Being a Dude Rancher”, but Selina asked me for a brief bio.
My dude ranching career began when I was 14 years old. I started out washing pots and pans and cutting hay my first year. We worked twelve to fourteen hour days, I don’t think we had a day off, and $125 at the end of the month – it was heaven!
During college my summers were spent wrangling at C Lazy U Guest Ranch in Granby, Colorado. After receiving a degree from Colorado State University, I ventured out into the real world.
After a few years of the real world I decided to do some graduate school work at the University of Wyoming. While in graduate school I had thoughts and aspirations of running General Motors or IBM. However, a phone call from C Lazy U to see if I would be interested in managing the operation changed that. I initially said no, but after a night of sleep I gained my senses and applied to C Lazy U. Joanie & I raised our family there for 15 years.
After 15 years I was ready to try something new. After trying a few different avenues I was fortunate enough to return to dude ranching here at the Home Ranch. I have been at the ranch since 2001.
I hope to retire here, but that’s quite a ways down the road yet.
